Michael K. Nowak
Michael K. Nowak was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, and is a life-long resident of St. Clair County. He graduated cum laude from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1985, where he was the Executive Editor of the Northern Illinois University Law Review. Mike earned his undergraduate degree from the Eastern Illinois University in 1982, where he was Financial Vice-President of the student body. Before joining the firm, Mike was a partner in his own law firm, engaged in private practice representing injured workers from 1989 through June of 2007.
Licensed to practice law in Illinois, Missouri and Colorado, Mike concentrates his practice in worker’s compensation, civil and personal injury litigation, Federal Employer’s Liability Act (FELA) litigation and municipal law. During his career, Mike has represented injured workers and their families from various States including: Illinois; Missouri; Arkansas; Colorado; Indiana; Iowa; Kentucky; Louisiana; Michigan; Mississippi; Nebraska; Ohio; Oklahoma; Tennessee; Texas; and Wyoming. Mike currently represents members of the International Union of Operating Engineers, as well as injured workers of various trades, and serves as legal counsel for the Camp Jackson Fire Protection District. He is a former member of the Judicial Nominating Committee for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and serves as a Mediator for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court Annexed Mediation Program. Mike is an active member of the St. Clair County Bar Association, East St. Louis Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyer’s Association, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Missouri Bar Association, Missouri Association of Trial Lawyers, American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America and The Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys.
